MK Dons stun Manchester United in League Cup giant-killing
MK Dons produced one of the biggest shocks in League Cup history, defeating Manchester United 4-0 at Stadium MK. Playing in front of a club-record crowd of 26,969, the League One side delivered a sensational performance against the four-time winners, who were competing in the second round of the competition for the first time in 19 years. Will Grigg opened the scoring after capitalising on a mistake from Jonny Evans before doubling the advantage with a clever second-half finish. Arsenal loanee Benik Afobe then added two more goals to complete a remarkable victory.
Manchester United, managed by Louis van Gaal, struggled throughout the match and failed to register a shot on target until the 72nd minute.
