Spain beat Argentina after extra time to win the 2026 FIFA World Cup
Spain won the FIFA World Cup for the second time after defeating defending champions Argentina 1-0 following extra time in the 2026 Final. In a match that failed to live up to pre-match expectations, the final remained goalless until extra time, with few clear-cut chances at either end. That changed late in stoppage time when Enzo Fernández was sent off after receiving a second yellow card, and Ferran Torres finally broke the deadlock in the 106th minute. Taking Nico Williams’ headed pass, he smashed it past a helpless Emiliano MartÃnez to end Argentina’s reign as world champions.
