Dinamo Bucharest hit 11 past Crusaders in record European Cup demolition
Dinamo Bucharest set a European Cup record by crushing Northern Ireland’s Crusaders 11-0 in the first-round second leg. The tie had appeared relatively balanced after the first leg, where Dinamo managed only a 1-0 victory. Dinamo struck within seven minutes through Dudu Georgescu, and the Romanian champions were 4-0 up by half-time. The second half became a complete collapse for Crusaders. Georgescu, who would later win the European Golden Boot in 1975 and 1977, scored four goals in total, while fellow Romanian international Radu Nunweiller also helped himself to four goals from midfield. Additional strikes came from Cornel Dinu and Florea Dumitrache, before Crusaders defender Liam Beckett inadvertently turned the ball into his own net.
