Genoa Cricket & Athletic Club is founded as Italy’s oldest football club
Genoa Cricket & Athletic Club was founded and is recognised as Italy’s oldest existing football club. Originally established for cricket and athletics by members of the English community in Genoa, the football section gradually became dominant and thanks to the influence of James Richardson Spensley helped lay the foundations for organised football in Italy.

Pelé scores on his Santos debut aged just 15 years old
Pelé began one of football’s greatest careers hen he made his senior debut for Santos at the age of 15. Facing Corinthians, the teenage forward scored in a 7-1 victory, netting the first goal of what would become an extraordinary career that transformed both Santos and world football.
