Newcastle produce historic eight-goal masterclass against Sheffield United
Newcastle United delivered a record-breaking performance as they overwhelmed Sheffield United 8-0 at Bramall Lane. Sean Longstaff opened the scoring after 21 minutes, finishing Anthony Gordon’s cutback despite furious protests from the home side over the build-up. Newcastle then took complete control before half-time through two Kieran Trippier set-piece assists, with Dan Burn and Sven Botman both scoring headers. The second half turned into a procession. Callum Wilson headed in Newcastle’s fourth, Gordon curled home a superb fifth, and Miguel Almirón added another as the visitors repeatedly cut through the increasingly helpless Blades defence. Bruno Guimarães made it seven before substitute Alexander Isak completed the rout late on with a composed finish after another defensive mistake.
